March 26, 2016 Update: I have landed here several time since but somehow missed checking the restaurant inside the terminal building. This time, after landing, I checked out the Aviators Restaurant and was pleasantly surprised to see a nice, aviation theme restaurant, with model aircrafts hanging from the ceiling. They were busy with several customers when I walked in but was seated right away; food and service were good. |

A great view to the ramp and runways.

July 2, 2010: Landed to Sacramento Executive Airport for the first time. I flew over this airport several times going somewhere else but didn't have a reason to land until this time. I have even checked out the terminal when I drove by sometime ago. I also used the club's Cessna 172 after flying the Piper Archer II that has been my preference lately. This Friday afternoon, the airport was quite. As I approached the airport, I was the only one talking to the tower. After landing, I was the only one in the transient parking. SAC has multiple runways but uses Runway 20 most of the time, and that's what I was assigned to land. Runway 20 was in condition and well marked. On my return flight, Tim was my passenger. Executive ground gave taxi instructions per the new FAA rules. I was asked to taxi to Bravo, Mike, cross 16 but hold on 12 before proceeding to 20. Actually, I like this new rules better. The key here is having a taxi diagram on hand. Otherwise, this could be confusing in unfamiliar airport with complex taxiways crossing multiple runways. |

This is the first time I'm flying again N20858 after flying the club Piper Archer II
exclusively for some time.

Entrance to SAC terminal building. It's open 6:00am - 9:00pm. I heard good things in the Aviators Restaurant. I got to check that out one of these days. Control tower is also attached to the terminal.
Inside the terminal building facing the door to transient parking. There are clean restrooms, pilot shops, flight school, a pilot lounge, and airport office. There are also vending machines if one prefers not to go to the restaurant. Well maintained and clean all around.
Entrance to the terminal from the transient parking. There's an open patio one can watch ramp activities. The restaurant is the very right building, control tower is in the middle, and doors to the terminal on the lower left. |
