Angwin Archer Ferry Trip

Sept. 22, 2014: Ferrying the Archer II to Angwin (2O3)

The Archer II was due for it's annual maintenance and I got the ferry duty to delivery it the shop at Angwin airport.

The plan was for me to fly the Archer to Angwin and Larry, another member-partner, flies the Cessna. We then drop off the Archer and Larry will fly me be back to Napa. This is the first time I've flown to Angwin. It's an interesting airport to land since it sits on top of a plateau 1,800 ft. above sea level. One has to watch the altitude when flying in the pattern since the ground below the pattern is lower than the airport; this can throw off the site picture for those used to land at airports surrounded by flat land.

Angwin airport is privately owned by the Pacific Union College but open to GA airplanes. In fact, some pilots wanting to visit the Napa Valley use this an alternate airport since it's closer to the popular wineries and towns. And it's very pictureque being on top of a plateau around pine trees and vineyards. Although the airport is used by the college flight training, it's not as busy as the nearby Napa airport and not towered.

After landing at Angwin to delivery the Archer II for it's annual maintenance. Note the Cessna is also in the shop to replace the AI.
The fuel station and the FBO; the FBO answered the UNICOM frequency when I requested for airport advisories.
The Angwin airport ramp.
Picture taken towards Runway 34. Note slight upward slope towards the end of the runway.
Clean restrooms --- an important facility for a GA airport --- next to the shop building.
The friendly shop mascot.
Vineyard (in progress) right next to the airport.
The airport viewed from outside the airport fence.
Downwind view as we departed Angwin. The AI repair for the Cessna end up to be longer than anticipated; thus, Larry has to fly me back in the Archer.
Enjoyed the view as a passenger in the Archer for the first time; I believe this is the town of Yountville.
Flying over Napa.
Napa River.
The Napa Marina.
The Napa Golf Course (--- just one of the many around Napa) as we approach Napa Airport.
