Ontario is a Class C airport with commercial flights from major
airlines such as Southwest, Delta, Alaska and others.
I prefer to land on smaller airports, but for this trip, the availability
of rental cars on weekends, and proximity to the hotel we're statying,
made it preferable to land in Ontario.
On approach, the tower directed us to RT 26R, then cleared to land on 26L.
Upon landing, ground provided a progressive taxi to Guardian Jet FBO,
which was helpful, otherwise it would have been hard to find the FBO in such a sprawling airport.
The FBO has large, nice lounge with coffee and chilled bottled water, clean restrooms and helpful staff.
The overnight fee at Guardian Jet FBO was $30/night or a minimum of 15 gallon fuel purchase.
The fuel price was higher than the nearby smaller airports but, I guess it's the price
to pay for the convenience of being able to pickup and return the rental car to the
FBO on weekends, and having the plane refuel and towed close to the FBO for departure.
On departure, clearance delivery provided the squawk code for the ONT airspace and flight following.
I was also instructed to takeoff to heading 285 and stay at 3,000 until transferred and released to SoCal Approach.
