May 5, 2018 - Tracy
This is first time landing in Tracy Municipal Airport, although I flew overhead several times.
Tracy is one of my waypoints when flying to Southern California. But this time, I decided land and check it out.
It was very windy and gusting during this flight, and no one else was in the pattern.
Good thing the AWOS was working and helped me decide
which runway to use --- which in this visit, it favored Runway 30.
The runways and ramp at the eastern part of the airport were in good shape;
ample tie downs at the south east area. Tracy is also known to have the lowest priced avgas
within No Cal bay area airports. Fuel station is also at the east side of the airport.
Another good thing in Tracy airport is the multiple runway options. On departure, the wind shifted aligning Runway 26.
And I was able to take off smoothly despite the gusting winds without much cross wind maneuver.
Runways and ramp area are in good condition. Ample transient parking spaces with chain tie downs in the SE area of the ramp.
Tracy airport is known to have the lowest priced avgas within Northern California/Bay Area airports.
Airport office and flying school located at the east side of the airport.
Clean public rest room in a trailer in front of the Skyview Aviation flight school. Alos in the picture is my folding bike to check out the town.
Pedestrian access is at Gate 2; make sure you have the access code to get back.
Since the gate sensor is not sensitive enough for pedestrian, one has to push this button to go open the gate.
Interesting warning sign.
A mile and a half biking north of the airport along Tracy Boulevard, there's a strip mall with restuarants. |
