Attendees of the Retreat from the mission area.
First Stop - Manila | |
| At the national headquarters of the Philippine Campus Crusade for Christ(PCCC). Met with Janet Sarcos, a PCCC staff, to discuss materials for the planned training retreat with the foundation youths and scholars. Actually, Janet was scheduled to facilitate the retreat. Unfortunately, she had an accident that resulted to a broken shoulder making her unable to travel. But the retreat has to go forward; thus, some last minute scrambling to change plans. |
Next stop --- Cebu: The Retreat on Descipleship
The retreat was originally planned as a two-weekend session on descipleship. The first session
was planned on July 21 - 22, and session 2 on July 28 - 29. Because of Janet's accident, we
decided to proceed with session 1, and rescheduled session 2 to be determined in the near future.

The retreat was held at CENDET facility in Cebu City where the attendees stayed overnight.
With Janet unable to make it, Alex stepped-in to facilitate the retreat using the materials
provided by Janet.

| The second day of the retreat gets into more deeper discussions on topics discussed the night before. |
|
There were 22 attendees who completed the training from the mission area including:
|
Next --- To Escalante | |
| Part of the mission trip was to explore other potential mission areas --- "one more village". This time, we went to Escalante, Negros. |
To Sac-on | |
| We wish we could visit more of the churches in the mission area. But with our limited time, we were only able to visit Sac-on. |

| The Cebu Conference Minister having a "face time" with the Sac-on youths. We also thanked him for providing the transportation. Because of the remoteness and mountainous terrain, there are no reliable transportation services to these mountain churches. |
The Mission Trip Epilogue
Like the previous mission trips to the Philippines, we wished we have more time to do all things we
would like to accomplish. But we're still grateful for this opportunity to continue our ministry
to these mountain churches.
The focus for this trip was for the youths and young adults. The lack of full time pastors to adequately serve these rural mountain churhes is a concern. However, we are encouraged by the news that many of these youths and young adults, particularly among the foundation scholars, are active in their local churches. Many of them have even taken leadership roles. The foundation would like to continue to provide supplemental trainings, like these retreats, to help them be better lay leaders. The session 2 will be scheduled soon. |
